Thoughts on MPG! 4 Years, 11 Months ago
I've read many threads about trying to improve on gas mileage and one thing I have not seen mentioned was the windshield or no windshield! I would have to say that there would be a dramatic drop in MPG without one. So give that a thought before ripping into the carb one more time!

The wind resistance! It's like driving your car with the windows down. Imagine your bike in a wind tunnel. With a windshield the smoke would go up and over. Without...its just beating against you. Picture the difference in a sail boat with the sail up or down.

I get your point, but I respectfully disagree. Yes, the wind is beating against you without a windshield, but it's still beating against the windshield, you just don't feel it. I would tend to think the mpg is very similar with or without a windshield. Maybe 1 or 2 mpg better with the windshield because it is probably a little slicker than you are. IMHO.

Your probably right. I wasn't thinking it would be 10 or more, but I do believe that it has to make some difference. Of course...I've been wrong before!
