Check for air leaks around the manifold, carb and exhaust. Once it heats up the leaks get smaller.

I use starter fluid or carb cleaner for the manifold and carb and a cigarette or incense stick for the exhaust.

Did this issue just start to happen? Did you do some work on the bike recently? Has there been a change in temps lately since it is now getting colder in most places. If there has been a change in temps, this could be normal, especially since it acts and performs ok when warmed up. Keep in mind, it's a carb, and probably tuned during your riding season, it's sensitive to temps, you just might have to adjust the pilot screw a bit richer to compensate for the colder start-up temps. Gas doesn't atomize as well in cold temps, so it takes more gas to get enough to atomize to alleviate the lean conditions

Re:bike not running right when cold 1 Year, 6 Months ago
So i had a intake leak I fixed that and then the bike was running crazy rich pulled the carb apart and the needle that was in there was not stock it looked like one for a dirt bike with the 5 groves in it. the problem is that the main jet leaks fuel at idle because the needle is to short with the clip at the top grove it is still 1/4 inch away from the jet to stop the fuel at idle. so i am going to try to pick up up a stock needle tomorrow and then reject it.

Hey Crazy PM me your mailing address and I will send you a stock needle for nothing I have no use for it with the 45 HSR's. I will also look and see what jets I have and send you a stock 182.5 and any others that are close to it for your use.
