Broke the ^&$$*# Choke Cable 4 Years, 11 Months ago
My choke has been sliding in on its own, so I tightened the nut behind it. Or should I say over-tightened, and the PLASTIC snapped. Yami want ONLY 52.00 for a new one. Tried the super glue route - no luck. Anyone have any other idea before I hit the hip?

Try wrapping it real tight with some duct tape. It's only there to hold the choke knob in the bracket. It's the round rubber grommet behind the choke knob but in front of the bracket that you tighten to adjust the cable moving in and out.

Try taking a hose clamp paint it black with spray paint and when its dry try putting the nut back on and clamp down on it it might hold, if not I would try motorcycle salvage yards...

Or try this Yamaha dealer they seam to be the cheapest around

Looks like round two with the superglue got it fixed. Basically the glue came out too fast, now my hand is glued to the bracket, which in turn is glued to the choke cable

Actually I went back and took a second look and used a spot of superglue on the back side of the bracket where the nut is, and another spot on the front where the grommet is and it looks like it will work out find.

So you superglued the adjustable grommet to the bracket?

Yeah Musky, I did. If I did not, the choke was not usable. With the SVS thing going on, I just did not want to deal with it. I am sure I can get the grommet off the front, and the nut off the back when I get around to changing the whole cable. Seems to be working fine for the near term.

Went on a good, constant, high speed ride yesterday after doing a shock treatment with Ring Free. Hoping this makes a difference.
