The stock float level? I got the Maxair air cleaner and the instructions said it needs to be set at 14mm. I was wondering what the stock setting was.
Thanks

Never mind I found it in the Tech section.
Thanks anyway.
I ported my own intake...then because the rubber where the carb mounts was so hard I ordered a new one which was already ported. Man, the professional port job is 100% better than what I did with my dremel. This thing is smooth and shinny. I can't wait to install it.

I wonder what the starting point is because the manual says 1-2 mm below mating surface.
OK, I see you found it. Wonder how they ported it to get it so smooth?

The OEM setting is 4 to 5 millimeters above the mating surface of the float bowl. 14mm sounds rediculous! To check the level, there is a drain tube on the bottom of the bowl. There is also a screw that is the drain valve. Take a piece of clear plastic tubeing long enough to reach above the carb. Put the plastic tube onto the bowl drain and open the screw a turn; turn on the key for a moment to make sure the carb is properly full. The fuel level in the plastic tube will equal the level in the carb. The bike needs to be verticle while you do this.

Clifford, I think that Maxair is referring to a measurement made by holding the carburetor upside down and measuring from the flange to the top of the float. Kind of like we used to do on car carburetors.

That might be so; but however they want it done they should tell you, if it isn't the OEM method. To find the OEM method you look in the manuel; to find their method where do you look?

Seems like I saw it on their website. Surely there's also a description in the instructions.
As for me, I like the tube method. It's much more accurate especially if done with the engine idling.

Must be their very autocratic website. Not to risk but I didn't have the best experience. I told them I felt that I was running rich evidenced by the 30 mpg and was told that I wasn't allowed to FEEL to leave that to the experts.
