Seems a few citizens in my area are upset with the customized exhaust systems on some bikes and have taken their cause to the local media. Evidently they can't carry on a cellphone conversation with a noisy bike next to them. Works for me.

I admit that I feel a little bad when I come home after a proper decent bedtime and probably wake a couple of people up with my bike. There's no switch on there to turn down the volume, so I do my best to ride as quiet as possible, but it still sounds like a pack of Elephants playing soccer...

When they start paying my mortgage and all my other bills, then maybe I will listen. Until then, screw em! I see a lot more dangerous things on the road than having loud pipes. When I come in during later hours, I just let my baby idle as I coast down the street. I thought this was America. If these sensitive weenies keep getting their way, we won't be able to do or have anything anymore unless they approve. Sorry about the rant!

I know when I fire mine up with the HK pipes at 5:00am to go to work. I push it to the end of the driveway first. Only one I worry about disturbing is my wife in the morning. Not sure if it would pass a noise test or not. But If I wake the wife that early I'm a dead man!!

Never heard any complaints from the neighbors yet. Although one did say it was quieter than the campground across the street on the weekends!

I feel your pain guys. The neighbors must love the V&H shortshots at 11:00p.m. when I head off to work as they are going to bed. I do try to be nice in my neighborhood, but on the road, screw them. I say stop the Hondas with 8-inch mufflers hanging out the rear of the car and maybe, just maybe we will listen. Until then, leave me and my customization alone.

Might be time to have someone from one of the local bike clubs talk to the media.

For the most part, the general public doesn't have any idea why bikers want the loud pipes. Safety. The public doesn't understand that being seen is the safest thing we can do as bikers and the loud pipes get your attention.

I've had people completely change their thinking about bikers when you explain. They think we rev the engines at stop signs because we have big egos. Instead of because we want the other people at the intersection to look, and see us.

Out on the twisties a loud set of pipes will let that stupid deer know your headed it's way. Hopefully it will have already turned and gone another direction before you get to it instead of jumping out in front of you at the last second.

A well spoken member of a local bike club might be able to de-fuse this before it gains momemtum. The last thing we need is hard ass noise ordinances popping up all over the country.
