Musky

An air leak would cause spark plug fouling due to poor combustion

The ether test is what the dealers do to pin point the intake manifold leak

My Harley had a cracked manifold and wasnt bangin on one cyl and I replaced wires plugs etc tryin to pin down the problem...

It was the intake manifold...cracked...

Try quickstart spray or WD 40 around the intake while shes idling...

if no change in RPMs then you dont have a manifold leak

Mornin Pop

I tried the lazy check with starting fluid (without taking anything off) today I'm going to take the tank off so I can get in there better and aim the stuff at the manifold.

You dont have to force feed this test....

Yer lazy mans way..spray any where around the intake... is good if any increase in RPMS

you have a leak..

It will suck the ether from the air anywhere near the manifold

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2007/07/14 11:20

Hey Pop

I'm going to do everything I can today. Start at the easy and work my way through. Check real good for air leaks. Do a compression test. And check the coils, wires, and caps. I want to find anything and everything that could even be close to a problem and get it over with. I still owe too much on it to hate the bike. Maybe later though

Hey Doc, We got duck tape in all colors down south
Anything to match. I know a guy that fixed his wifes headlight with duck tape and a 2,liter coke bottle.

I've duct taped my kids diapers before (back in the olden days). If you get baby powder on that little sticky strip you're screwed and the tape strip won't stick and I'm too cheap to throw away a perfectly good diaper so out came the duct tape. Needless to say my ex wasn't too impressed.

Hmmmm, maybe that's why she's an ex.
