Had to go see a R* for myself at dealership today. 1 Year, 4 Months ago
I swore to myself that I would not step foot in a Ride-Now MC dealership. They are notorious for being unethical here in the Phoenix Valley, but they are pretty much everywhere and have little competition.

Well Anyhow, they had a used 2008 R* with 4200 miles on it. It appears to have been dropped since there are dents and crush marks on the exhaust in several spots.

Just for fun, I had them appraise my 2002 Vstar 1100 with 50,000 miles on it. They said they would give me $1,900 for it. That part seems OK with the type of mileage I have on the bike.

What I thought the price on the bike was a bit high. Out the door, including the $1900 dollars taken off the price of the bike came too 6950.00. So that would be 8850 without the trade in of 1900.

I look at nada values and Ride-Now price seems to be 2k-3K over.

What do you guys think ?

So I won't go with that but may need to look out of state, but we will see.

AS much as it sucks to be without a bike for any amount of time I would recommend selling your bike yourself and then find a deal on a R*. This dealer was showing you 1900 but was actually giving you ZERO for your bike. A 2008 that has been down isn't worth the $7000 they were charging AFTER your trade. Sell your bike and put some money with it and get a better deal.

Jona, I'm with you, but there are some great buys out there if you have time to shop around. You can't go wrong with a Road Star whichever one you buy. Dead reliable & tons of extras available. I had a V-Star 1100 before my Road Star and also a 90 Heritage Softail. Love my Road Star and would grab another one!!!

If it has been dropped before and maybe more than once I would wonder how other things on it were treated - maintenance, etc. How about the old advice of finding out who the previous owner was and calling him/her.

I just bought an '04 with 4800 miles, out the door for $5700, so to me it seems that not only can you do better, you could do a lot better. On the other hand, if it will make you happy at that price, go for it, you'll be the one on the bike, not anybody else here.
