YEAH BABY...................................... 4 Years, 10 Months ago
Had a couple really cool experiences today. First, I carried my wife as a passenger on the R* for the first time, and It was for 350 miles. She hasn't ridden as my passenger for 3 years, as she is her own pilot. It was really nice. We went to look at a Vehicle that was 170 miles away(and, ofcourse, not worth owning, can't people just be honest up front?).

Second, Sit down for this one........................ Carrying her, me , some stuff in the saddlebags, we weighted in around 500lbs.(she's a buck forty soaking wet) I got over 50 Mpg riding today.50.25 to be exact. I know why. We were on a road (secondary) that was similar to an interstate, very little stopping, constant speed. We rode anywhere from 65 to high 70's (flow of traffic) all day. No I'm not kidding, and no I'm not bad at math. But I was Thrilled to she the old girl do me so proud! One of my ridding buddies went with me (he just bought a new roadie (JWMS) ) and he too got over 50. 50.75 for him. These are great #'s, and very reassuring as I ride one long trip each year, and gas ain't gett'n no cheaper. Just thought I'd share the good news!BB

Great numbers BB. I just got back in from a run to Helen from Dalton, round trip 372 miles avg MPG 46.8. Went over 3 different moutains and even stopped in a TWO in stuches. Had a new rider and didn't want her to dirty the passenger seat so I used the gear box to slow coming down the moutians...

This kinda riding is what I live for...

10-4 Jreed, we were in the other direction, rode from Dallas (Ga.), to Huntsville,AL. 354 total miles. That too was a beautiful, scenic ride. Lots of smaller ups and downs through there, not quite the hills you were running through. Ran 278 into Gadsden, then picked up 431 straight to Huntsville. Glad you had a good time, and those are impressive numbers you got, too.BB

Weird how that works ain't it BB? I know I always get better mileage running two up for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm not acting the fool cause the wife said if I ever scare her she won't ride with me again.

I here ya Roadie, I liked the company that was riding with me on my ride, but I would also like to have been alone going through the mountains. Gas mileage wouldn't have been as good but I would have pushed it coming out of the curves a little harder. Guys if you ever get the chance ride the mountian roads From Chatsworth to Helen Ga don't pass it up. I have ridden the dragon and other well named roads, but this has to be the best riding so far. That is if you like curves and elavation changes.
