12V outlet 1 Year, 4 Months ago
Has anybody installed a 12V power outlet (cigarette outlet) on their R*'s. If so what brand did you get, where did you mount it at, and finally where did you buy it from? I would like to put one on my bike to run accessories.

Thanks for your input

I bought mine at the yamaha dealer and paid $15.00 and mounted it on my handle bar next to my GPS mount.

Well, as much as I likey the Kury version, $65.00 is totally outrageous. And the bobber afficianados I hang with already kid me enough about my Roadie and all the chromed goodies. So I went to WalMart, and bought the $9.95 12V. outlet in the automotive section (with a weatherproof snap-cover) and installed it on the handlebars with zip-ties. It has served me well for almost 11,000 miles, and shows no signs of malfunctioning. I wired it directly to the battery with an inline fuse (also from the automotive section) and the correct gauge wire. It runs my GPS, charges my phone, plays my i-Pod, and whatever else I need. Route the wiring (wrapped in black vinyl electrician's tape)under the tank with some extra so you can turn the handlebars. Simple, seamless install you can do in about an hour.... save that dough for something else.

I had the dealer put a $15 one on the handlebars opposite of my GPS when I bought the bike, they did if for No Charge (I think they got enough from me that day anyhow).
