The way I see is, as soon as the control the steros and the other stuff they can't touch me. As for the car steros, nothing sounds better than my pipes drowning out their music!

For starters if someone here in Canada wants to get on to noise pollution, they should look at Jack Layton and a few other political Morons in the Canadian Parliment in Ottawa, all they do is fight and argue like little brats all day.
As far as loud pipes, I think LOUD pipes on a bike are a matter of safety. I felt nervous on my Roadie with STOCK pipes. Nearly had a deer-strike and also a woman in a SUV pulled right out in front of me from a stop sign (If I had LOUD pipes she would have heard me over her stupid cellphone and she'd a been lookin' to see where the exhaust roar was comin' from an actually seen me.) So I gutted the pipes out like a fish, and no more problems with getting noticed in traffic.
What about the six-inch round FART PIPES hangin' outa those Honda Civics that just rolled out of the Crap'N'Tire service bay with four tubes of JB Weld, two rolls of muffler bandage, and several 18 inch peices of bulk-bin exhaust pipe and elbows attaching the fart pipe to the engine.
...Friggin wimpy four cylinder cars with big Fart pipes...
...Yeah, that's cool?, looks friggin retarded! Blahhhhh, blahhhh, blahhhhh.
Maybe if the Honda Civic had a V-Twin engine it would maybe at least sound good. ..Maybe not.

Post edited by: StarMyram, at: 2007/07/13 23:14

My pipes have saved my butt many times,I beep the horn and they don't hear it but I pull in the clutch and rev it and they almost jump out of their hide. They get the stupid look like geee what did I do I didn't know your were driving on my street. And RobertI don't think you can call that crap music.

Re:Noise police 4 Years, 10 Months ago
I am one of several (probably 10-12) bikers in our neighborhood, which is usually quiet and has a high number of retirees and empty nesters. There were several noise complaints made to our homeowner's association, but I asked for time to make a response. As soon as I explained the safety issue and the dangers we face from insulated cars & trucks with their music blasting, the complaints disappeared. In return, those of us with loud pipes (mine are V&H Longshots) try to come & go in the neighborhood as quietly as we're able. One of our local cops confirmed what we all know: the most common phrase a car driver makes after he hits a bike is "I never even saw him"! Last week here in the Dallas area, a motorcycle cop was killed by a car even though he had his lights & siren on. Granted, the cop did run a light while pursuing another driver.

I want them to know I'm there. 'Course, if the neighbors really piss me off, I'll just take the baffles out. Okay, I'm kidding about that.

Someone told me about these new-fangled electrinically adjustable exhaust systems...flip a switch and converts from stock to nasty and back to stock.

Found this link in a quick search:

http://www.harleycustom.co.uk/L2-Dr_Jekill_&_Mr_Hyde_Adjustable_Exhaust_Systems-8-293.html

There may be other manufacturers out there. Don't know what, if any, application there is to the R*.

But thought I'd share the info anyay.

There are also Allen-wrnech adjustable systems out there, too, I believe. Again, haven't really looked to far into it.

...Yep, that's how they got that nickname around here in these parts.
Don't get me wrong, Honda Civics are great little cars... finest grocery-getters.
Doc Shadow has a Honda Civic too, I think???
(...And I drove my '83 Civic GL up to 458,000km, averaging 53 to 57 MPG)

But, I HATE Honda Civics with "fart pipes." Especially when "dey got dat big-ass mother-****** sub-woofa in da back makin all da bass."
I don't know how their brains don't turn to mush listening to that Rap music llke that. Now THERE'S something the noise cops should be clamping down on, I agree.

WHOA! Almost thought that read Roadie'os -not radios.
Yeah well, loud radios in cars are a hazard to anyone on the road. Loud bikes are a safety-feature for everyone on the road, especially the poor biker that don't even have a 2x4 between his legs for protection in most cases.
If I ever get a ticket for a loud bike, I'm going to court to argue our case.
