It is machining problem...maybe Yamaha should have stolen a few blueprints from HD

An air cooled motor can not have the tight tolerances that a liquid cooled motor has..in the cyl head area..The Japs still have a lot to learn

That is it in a nutshell

right on exactly. you wouldnt believe the education I have gotten on this problem because of unwilling dealers and so called mechanics. there is 100X more knowledge on this board than I have received anywhere else! and that is the simple truth!

Welcome, Jetspray!

And while SVS can be somewhat chronically annoying, it is rarely ever fatal. I recovered from it quite nicely using a bunch of "mechanics in a can" and a lot of rejetting trial-and-error. Patience is the toughtest thing to get...

Welcome jetspray. What year is your bike? Not all get svs.
Your not pushing amsoil are you BB Post edited by: Greysnake, at: 2007/07/17 22:15

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone! my bike is a 2006. I hope to see and meet some of you at Star Days! and as for the amsoil, if I choose to run a synthetic oil, it will probably be Klotz! I have a fair amount of 2 cycle knowledge and Klotz lubricants are light years better than amsoil. I'm not and do not claim to be anything close to motorcycle mechanic. I do know that some racers are going to Rotella T. I am told they like the cost about 16$ per gallon at the chineese embassy (walmart) and seems to provide excellent lubrication. also has anyone ran Marvel Mystery Oil in their oil? I was told by a mechanic that worked at a K dealer they would use it as a engine flush along with MotorKote to remove buildup. seems to me a oil additive like marvel would be much better served in the engines oil to help svs. idk just a thought. seems I hear tons of jetting talk but how can we ignore the EGA readings? is there a whole new set of rules that only apply to roadies? yes it is frustrating, I have been with this problem for over three months.

Post edited by: jetspray, at: 2007/07/18 07:12

Don't know anything about Klotz oil but as long as it doesn't have friction modifiers in it and it's the right weight range it should be OK. Not sure. Since the Roadies have a wet clutch I'd rather not run any additives in the oil myself.

What all this means is we have a mechnaical screw up on Yamis part that they are not yet ready to own up to.There is no sure cure Reaming and stronger springs seems to be the best mechanical option yet but like Musky do I want them touching my bike ...nope ...What I see is you have to stay on top of every thing to avoid it ....proper jetting ....oil levels ....no air leaks ..good spark....no hi-test gas ...run it hard often...etc if you dont like tinkering with your bike I suggest you get another .ME I love this bike to me its worth the hassle...and like Pop said if this is all I gotta worry about so be it..and I am looking around the room goin ohhh chit.. . might be me next ...Coug

I am going to the dealer today to check up on me scooter and take them some jets. maybe I will take them some synthetic oil to put back in her. what weight would you guys reccomend? my friend is running 5w20 rotella T in his race bike. he says he will be running 10w40 in his busa.I live in NW Ohio might as well be lower Michigan. 10w40 should be ok I think? the only place I have ever seen 20w40 is at the yammy dealer.
