She is running like my girl used to This has happened since yesterday morning. 2 things have changed.

1. I got caught in a monsoon and sucked in a ton of water. Maybe it helped clean it out good.

2. There was so much water that I actually stopped and put the raincoat on the BAK. I left it on today. Could I be getting too much air without the raincoat? The rain coat changes the airflow somehow?

OK. Could be a 3rd - It could just be a coincidense.

Thoughts?

If you sucked in water during a rainstorm it has to help as the cool water hits the hot carbon the quick cooling breaks it loose and blows it out the exhaust ...I remember some of the motors I helped build when I was coming up and the guy would coast around town"lugging" .....that kinda horsepower has to be run hard or it does as our roadie ...carbons up... so we poured water in the carb after getting her hot...... we reved the motor and shot the water in ....you could see the carbon on the driveway ...was just like steam cleaning ...Coug

Hey Grey

I'd love to leave it alone. But the bike keeps going from good to bad whenever it wants to and I never found what the problem was. Like Today. Another change in running so I thought I would list what changed before this latest bout of running good.

Hmmmmm, What kind of soap did the monsoon water have with it? I've heard the women around here say that Tide soap is better than Sunlight soap.......
There is a phenomenon that could happen, it has something to do with water in the hot cylinder turning to steam - somehow it tends to "steam-clean" the carbon off of the parts apparently. My brother is a heavy-duty mechanic and said that he'd seen this happen on engines that continuously sucked in rain fog.
If this happens for long enough, it will eventually blow little tiny pieces of the piston rings off, and the engine will lose compression. (but we are talking several hundred hours for this damage to occur that bad.)
Antifreeze in the engine oil can do this damage to the rings too (Something us aircooled RoadStar owners NEVER have to worry about!)

....Now Musky, What's on your mind besides a little patch of hair? (assuming you have hair)

Hey Coug

That's one of the things I was thinking. But I also just got done nuking it with Ringfree and Deep creep. Maybe we're wasting money on all these chemicals when all we have to do is ride in the rain.

THAT shouldn't be hard around here now. All it does is pour rain every night with nasty LIGHTNING and thunder too. .....Hmmmmmm, maybe I've just come up with a new "SHOCK treatment" idea.
(The water will steam-clean, the thunder will vibrate the carbon off, and the lightning will take care of the "SHOCK"!) ....Maybe not a good idea.

Musky, do not overlook the obvious -- the bike is possessed by an evil sprit. Doc should make you a voodoo doll bike, Cougar can stick it with pins, Pop will throw it in a tub of boiling ring free and RK will chant "SVS SVS SVS" which of course is SVS spelled backwards. This should cure all ills.

Hey Whitestar I told Musky weeks ago that his gremlin bell was full and he needed
to empty it. maybe the rain washed it out
