Lowering the roadstar with the "flip" 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I did the flip over the winter but I am conserned about the exhaust hitting the pavement when leaning into a corner. I have HK 3 inch straight pipes and they seem like they would hit the road before the foot board. I like the lower seat height because I am a short fella and I like the HK pipes but I am thinking that the "Flip" might create more problems.....Has anyone ever had this problem with the flip?

Still 2 ft of snow on the ground So i guess I have a little time to decide what to do.....

Thanks,
Mark

I had the HK 2.75 straights, did the flip, got the 1k spring as well. Scrapped the heck out of my pipes, from the tip all the way to the floor boards, and that was single-up ridin. And I'm only 158, went back to stock height. Some pipes that mount high are fine, but if they mount low and long, the flip is too big a drop

Did the flip on my bike as well. I run the Freedom dual fishtails. I'll scrape them if i'm coming around a corner pretty hard. I haven't scraped coming out of my driveway or when I hit big bumps either. I adjusted the pre-load on the stock spring to the stiffest setting. Haven't tried it 2 up yet. My girlfriend won't get on until it gets a little warmer! Well guess you won't know how it'll do until you get to ride...until then...like Huskerbob said, it looks cool!!

I am dissappointed that the flip will eat up my beautiful pipes, but I love the lower stance. Maybe I will look for a trade for some higher pipes that will clear on corners. If you know of anyone looking to trade exhaust pipes (hk 3 inch with 2500 miles on them) please shoot me an e-mail.

Thanks,
Mark

I had flipped mine a few years ago. It had the BUB Big Willy's pipes. The pipes never once touched the ground. Based on your photo, it looks like your pipes are close to the same height.

I rarely rode with a passenger, but I weighed in about 230.

Go ahead & drag the pipes (& the boards) every now & then.
You'll get used to it.
