The PCS has landed: Part 1 4 Years, 10 Months ago
Well, I got the new PCS seat yesterday. Sadly, I haven't had a chance to ride on it yet... BUT...since several of you are looking for info, I snapped some pics to show you how it compares to the stock seat.

At first when I took it out of the box, I couldn't tell the difference when I had the PCS by itself. But in these side-by side pics, the difference is pretty evident.

I tried using the angle of the morning sun to show the difference in curvatures of the seat surfaces, much like you would do on a golf green when lining up a putt.

Anyway, here are the pics. The PCS is always on the right in these photos:

side by side is the most subtle difference...

the angled nose shot really shows off the higher scooped back and lower seat center...]

straight down, you can better see the dip which should allow me to sit lower and perhaps a little further back without sliding around...

this low angle shot shows perhaps the most dramatic difference in contours...

the underside shows the stock pan is in good shape, and that perhaps PCS went a little staple-happy...

and finally, what it looks like on the bike itself...

Looks like it could be good. I'll know better after I actually ride on it tomorrow...

The saga continues...

If you've had it 24 hours and haven't ridden it, I suggest you send it to me. I'll ride it within 2 hours of receipt.

Seriously, we are all holding our breath and waiting for Part 2, 3, & 4. It does look good and my butts all puckered up waiting for a trial run.

I'm anxious to hear also. That looks exactly like how I would want my seat to fit. Scooped lower and straight across. I constantly find myself sitting on the back edge of my stock seat and would love it if it dipped down right there. Looks like the PCS does just that.

OK, OK, OK...sorry, guys. We had a nice thunderstorm here yesterday evening, so I spent last night finding my spare 560 watt power supply for the PC to live again. Even with 2 surge protectors and UPS, it didn't survive. But I rejetted it and I'm good to go again.

Anyway, I did ride yesterday, and got to put about 40 miles on it (it was a work day, and it's only a 3 mile commute... ).

I'll be honest, when I took it out of the box I really wasn't expecting too much. But after riding, even that short distance, I really like the seat. Subtle changes in the foam shape really do make a difference.

On the stocker, I liked the size and the fact that there's that "wiggle room", and just the way it looked on the bike. But as we all know, the comfort isn't there, and it's real easy to slide around on the seat, especially towards the back on acceleration. Sometimes it felt like I was hanging on to the bars just to stay on the bike.

With the reshaped PCS seat, I can still sit all the way back, but that little lip they've created gives just enough of a "butt bumper" so that that problem is totally eliminated. I love my Corbin Dual Touring seat and will put it back on when riding 2-up, but it DOES move me forward, which I don't like. The PCS doesn't really move you forward at all--you can sit towards the back of the seat without feeling like you're going to slide off.

The PCS also lowers you a bit from the stock seat position, so no more feeling like I'm sitting on a booster seat. I'm estimating that it's about 2" lower than stock.

I believe PCS also slightly narrows the width of the seat nose at the tank, so it doesn't push your thighs outward as much as the stock seat does.

Overall, it provides the benefits of the size and look of the stock seat, but cradles your butt just enough to be comfortable. You can wiggle around with sliding side to side. Hell, the thing even came with Armorall or something on it, and I didn't slide around!

I can't attest to how it is on a long ride yet, but I think it'll be just fine. And for $95, it's worth it just for the comfort it provides on short-range cruises.

I'm keeping mine and happily sending my stock seat back to PCS. The wait was more annoying than anything else, but since it doesn't leave you without a seat while you wait, it's worth the wait. From my totally subjective point of view, two thumbs up on the PCS seat.
