Pro One Tach Install 4 Years, 10 Months ago
I installed my Pro One tach with no problems....I think.

Bike started fine and tach is steady...but the tach cluster back-light pulses with the bikes RPM at lower (idle) RPM's. When I rev the RPMS up to 3k or so, it steadys out.

Now the piggy-back connectors were a bit cheesy and didn't seem all too tight on the blades of the coil but seemed to be OK for the most part. I also grounded the tach to the bolt that the coil mounts to the frame with.

Now, before I tear it all apart, I thought I'd ask if the pulsing was normal? Anyone else have the Pro One Tach??

Also, if the cheesy piggy back connectors were affecting the power to the coil, how would I know that? How would the bike sound different? If I had a weak connection, would it still run but have other symptoms??

Thanks...

Katana, I'm not running a pro one tach, but I am running a tach. I had a green wire to the coil, black to ground, red was power source, yellow was light. My red and yellow are both feeding from the same power source and my light is stable at all RPMs. Now , they are different tachs , so...................................BB

Katana, I have a Pro-One tach, and the backlight is steady.

I've had no issues with mine. I installed as per the instructions that came with it. I am not knowledgeable enough on this subject to offer suggestions to you, sorry.

Good Luck with it!

Where did you ground yours too???

I used the bolt that holds the coil to the frame...since it was close.

Katana

Just checked my Pro One Riser mount Tach

Yep the light pulses at low RPMs and smoothes out once revved up

I wired her accordin to the instructions

Nothin to worry about just think the power source bein the tach pos term causes it

If he wanted, couldn't he get power (not ignition read) from a more "stable" location to prevent the flickering? BB

I think so BB

I cant find my install instructions,,,but I think the pos light wire was spliced to the pos coil wire and if you spliced to a different source it would eliminate the flickering????

Thanks Pop..and everyone else.

I'm not too wooried about it. I did call Pro-One and they said to check all the wires...it sounded like the ground may be "iffy". Next time the tanks off, I'll check it out.
