Maybe, depends on how your current bag supports are set up.

The Silverado backrest fits tight against the fender so the bag supports would have to sit on the outside of the backrest arm. This is how the OEM Silverado bag supports are bolted on.

vernk

I had a similasr dilema with a set of permanent mount no-name bags that had their own support rack. I have the Cobra backrest so not quite the same situation as yours with the silverado rest.

The problem I had was the damn bags kept hitting the belt guard no matter how long a set of bolts I used. I wanted the bags to be reasonably easy to get off without having to disassemble the backrest everytime.

I now have a great selection of 8mm bolts none of which are long enought to clear the belt. The solution I hit on was to get some threaded 8mm rod and make my own bolts cut to whatever length required that way I could have a bolt as long as I needed with the capability to have a nut on the end inside the bag (I have a locknut on the other end inside the fender and spacers to make the bags clear the guard), you will probably have a similar issue but you will probably want some standard bolts from the local hardware store I would opt for stainless(they will just need to be longer than what you have now)

Looking at the silverado rests on the yamaha site they look pretty flat where your saddlebag frame would contact so I would say slightly longer bolts and you should be good to go.

By the way if you ever go into a hardware stoe in the US looking for 8mm threaded rod forget it. Just head to a decent local auto parts store at least I did not get the puzzled looks I got at ACE hardware.

I to have the problem of the bag support hitting the belt guard. I am going to get some spacers to move them out, but now I need a new belt guard. It is a little frustrating, but I guess that is what everyone is having to do?

Hey Rockman, I have a belt guard hanging on the garage wall. It came off my 2003. I assume that it mounts the same on 2007. It is in great condition, been hanging on the wall since 2004. If you may be interested in purchasing, send me a PM. I would sell it for $50, plus you cover shipping.

I have a set of softbag supports that I had on with my throw overs. I now have hard bags and am getting ready to sell the supports and the bags on e-bay.
