Kill switch Question 1 Year, 2 Months ago
I'm trying to polish my switch covers. (The left one is done.) I am having a problem removing the red lever from the kill switch. I tried prying it off with a flat tip screwdriver. I didn't want to break it, so I stopped. How does that little bugger come off?

There is 1 very small phillips head screw in the white plastic part to remove and 2 small screws in the brown square-ish plastic in the center of the switch housing that retains the bottom tab.

Bigger flat tip worked. I hope it goes back on. Looks "torn" a bit. Thanks

Be careful when you put it back together. There is a little prong on the black half of the switch. You have to squeeze the two sides of the switch together to get it back in the housing without breaking it.

If you bugger it up too badly, let me know. I might have a spare.

Jimtech: Yes, I did. Even with the screws removed, the switch cannot come out of the housing cover without that "exterior" red lever removed from the switch.

Mudslide: Thanks for the words of wisdom. Hard part was that little spring on the starter button. It was fun.

Tampa, I don't know if mine is going to go back on. Tried pushing it down on it, now that everything is together and on the bars. No Luck (Tips?)Thanks for the "spare" offer. I may take you up on it. I'll check with the local dealer.

Not HD: Yep, I've done that at least three times on mine and each time I say, "WTF"
