need advice on selling price 4 Years, 10 Months ago
for financial reasons I'll be selling my 2001 Roadie. Don't really have an idea what to ask, so I'm seeking opinions here:

2001 Roadstar Silverado w/Silverado windshield
(windshield plastic replaced about a year ago)
21,000 miles
Metzler ME880's front & rear, about 1000 miles on each
V&H Longshots
Baron's BAK, K&N filter
Dyna 3000 ignition box
Yamaha Big Bar
Yamaha Tall sissy bar
Mustang Vintage studded seat & pillion, driver backrest
Passenger floor boards
Tachometer
Kuryakyn RTB Controller (rear turns converted to red HD lenses)
Stock horns removed, upgrade to 132 db dual tone
Silverstar headlight bulb
Chrome upper & lower belt guard
Rear brakes replaced about 19,000 miles

Does not have light bar. Never been dropped. It's black/burgundy metalic
Located in Dallas, TX area. This is just killin' me. I don't really want to sell.

chime in with thoughts on a realistic selling pric.e

Also check AutoTrader.

If you have your stock parts you could also turn it back to stock and sell the after market parts.

Everyone has given you good advice. I'll just second that you won't get much money for the extras on the bike. If you can take them off and sell them seperately you'll be better off. Sorry to hear you have to sell it.

here's a link to blue book value http://www.nadaguides.com/SectionHome.aspx?LI=1-28-0-5000-502-565-50214&l=1&w=23&p=0&f=5600

also as mentioned Craigslist is free to list, just go to the main site and select your state and go from there http://providence.craigslist.org/about/cities.html
my ride came from there and I also sold a Wing there ... BUT Beware ... If someone wants to make a deal that sounds to good to be true ... it might be!!! I had a few scammers try to buy my bike and give me more than I was asking and they would arrange pickup, that’s there scam the check and a shipping company arrive at the same time. I've heard a few horror stories, shipping out merchandise before cashing the check. Use your common sense and go from there ..... it's free to list and a very popular site. Good Luck !!!!

I have bought and sold many a bike. I can say from some experience, that lots of folks like a stock bike over one that's "done up". That was your taste, they may want to go in an entirely different direction with the bike. You can also recoup some lost $$ by selling your parts those interested in individual pieces. And KBB, and NADA are not going to give you true value of what you have in your scoot, but buyers are going to try to use that to their advantage. From the sounds of things, if you decided to put her back to stock, you may have half a days work, could still ask book for it, and make a little $$ back from your accessories. Just a thought. BB

BTW, sorry to here you have to sell.

Post edited by: Big Bear, at: 2007/07/30 22:31

thanks to all of you for the advice. I can see the wisdom in putting the stock pieces back on, and then sell the aftermarket goodies individually.

don't really want to sell, but there's medical issues going on in our family and it just doesn't seem right to have that big shiny toy sitting in the garage when the money could be used for other things. In my 40 years of riding I've endured other times when I didn't have a scooter.
