Please tell me I am a dummy 1 Year, 1 Month ago
As previously mentioned, I am going to lower the back end of my bike. I have chosen the "flip" method and printed it out. However, when i look under the bike, that which i thought were the curved parts that needed to be removed are actually dead straight on both the upper and lower side. I can seem to find anything in that area that resembles the diagram in the instructions.

Where is i done wrong

Although it looks to be straight, when you remove the linkage, you will see that the top hole is "leaned" forward. It is not in line with the rest of the holes.

The part is sitting up and down and it is hard to tell when on the bike. when you pull it off just take note as to how you took it off and you will see where it needs to grinded. I did mine many years ago but it was a snap.

Good luck! YOU CAN DI IT!

The part that you want to mod is the one that the top of the shock hooks to. The two straight parts that are on the lower end stay on the bike but are unhooked from the cross shaped part as well. The cross shaped parts is the part you grind. The part number is #8 on page 4-81 of the service manual.

Thanks all. I was looking at the wrong parts. I did have an issue with the instructions as the part was mentioned in plural and then other thread mentioned it in the singular. So, I now know the part and will attempt the job tomorrow.

Cheers

A very happy Dragoon

Curt.

I see it but cant quite visualize how the procedure will lower me rear. I take it it has to go back in backwards after the grind.

So,

I have a good cycle jack and all the tools. I have three crushed finger, two on my right hand one on the left and it incumbers my dexterity. However, I have been working on bikes for years with these. Do you think i can do the job myself?

Oh and thanks Jade, got a good laugh out of that one
