Good instructions here: http://roadstarclinic.com/content/view/163/96/

Just substitute the float valve from the Yamaha 660 Grizzly (3.0 mm) for better fuel flow.

Thanks Texasscott for the link but do I have to change the needle valve? For now I'm not wanting to do a lot of performance mods. It runs pretty good as is. I just want to do away with the fuel pump. Is it as simple as replacing the existing fuel pump and steel tube with a new flexable fuel line with an inline filter from the petcock to the carb? For now that's all I want to do. Later on, when I get to know this bike better, I will probably do the needle valve swap.

Stock float valve and petcock, same metal fuel line, no extra filter, no extra venting, however, I did add a positive inline (on/off) ballcock valve so I didn't have to dick with turning the petcock off all the time....works great so far....may add an inline filter down the road and perhaps vent the gas cap... and I don't slack on the seafoam maintenance

BC1955, I tried mine with the stock float valve but the engine would suck the bowl dry at 75 mph full throttle. Something about owning a bike with the fastest color I guess. LOL

Thanks guys. I think I will try it without changing the needle valve and see what happens. If I don't like it I will do the whole swapping thing. I too Jona believe in Seafoam. I keep a bottle or two on hand.

Re:Pumpless Question 2 Years, 1 Month ago
I removed the pump, installed a filter and new line, removed the screen in the carb, vented the gas cap, and installed the grizzly valve. I never shut off the petcock, and didn't adjust the float. No more puke. I haven't been on any long hauls yet, but I held it at 80 for about 20 miles and had no issues. I'm glad I did it.
