Apes? 4 Years, 9 Months ago
Hey Fellas,
I have the stock cables/handlebars on my '05 R*. How tall of apehangers can I put on without having to change any cables? I understand I will probably have to reroute, and that's not a problem. Just looking to stay within my budget.(Actually the wife's budget) I don't really have a budget, but you know how it is.

Jet ...I have done nothing yet to my bars....but everything I read here and on the RSR forum indicates no cable changes need to be made until you are over 4 inchs of rise ...but even with 4" rerouting of the stock cables are necessary...Coug

the bars in the sig pic below are 30cm high by 88cm wide on standard risers.

you can re-route the cables for this size, although the brake line is a bit tight.

good excuse for getting braided brake lines though.

heres a better piccie (though not much) i have changed the cables and lines in this one though.....

I have the 12" Apes w/4" risers. The electrical wiring was OK, but I think you'll need to replace the cables.

Post edited by: IMTopGun1, at: 2007/08/08 07:56

TopGun,

Nice sig pic.

Could you please resize it so that it's 450 pixels wide or less.

If you're unable to do it I can resize it for you.

Thanks,

Doc

Sorry Doc, I thought I had that size posted. I reposted it at the website size (320X240) so, if that didn't work, please feel free to help out a 'net-challenged' old fart. Thanx.

I bit bigger (450 wide) would be better so I can see your wife better. Opps .... I mean your bike.

If it's not easy to do for you, I can do fo you later tonight when I get home. I work with graphics a lot so have all the 'tools' and it only takes a couple of minutes.

The tab key is defintely not your friend when replying. Sorry about the double posts guys/gals.

Topgun -

Looks like you are about the same height as mine. I went 16" and had to extend electrical, as well as put on extended and braided throttle push/pull and clutch.

that´s what mine are

30cm = 12 inches more or less

like i said, it´s a re-route as opposed to a change
