difference btwn Roadstar and HD 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I've never been on a HD. I'm wondering if there's a rideability difference btwn our 2 bikes. For example, all things being the same and not modifications, is there a difference in the ride btwn a Roadstar and a Fatboy?

HD's are beautiful bikes and maybe I'll have one when I get old (like 40) but what's more superior about them over Roadstars?

I'm not looking for hypotheticals but from guys who rode each bike and know the differences.

Thanks

Man are you asking a loaded question. My mother has a Dyna and it's a great bike. Good power good looks and very reliable. Now a Road Star and a Dyna are just about apples and oranges but a Road Star and a V-Rod are apples and chicken. That thing is sportbike fast and not at all good looking (IMHO) and I am 40.

When I decided to get back into riding, I wanted a HD roadking classic. IMHO, one of the beautiful bikes ever made, until I sat on it. It felt small & I felt cramped. ( I'm 6'3", 285lbs) My roadie fits me better

What the heck was that last post?

Anyway I've rented Harleys a few times. They do seem "smaller" though they have a couple of advantages like real low center of gravity (due to that heavy tranny), better lean angle, better suspension on tour models, kick ass looks (not that RS looks bad at all), and oodles of lower price aftermarket...

RS wins in torque, smooth tranny and clutch (though hew Harley clutches are excellent, a lot more bike for the money, reliability, and lower on radar for theft.

That's just some quick thoughts. I'd love a Road King but can't justify the price.

I was going to buy an Ultra, so I went to a dealer and rode a used 03 with 9K on it. Felt small and under powered compared to my Venture... Rode the Roadstar, so I bought a stripped down one cheap and built my own Ultra. I now own two Roadstars. Fun bikes..... Butch

Son in law had a Road King & I've had a Heritage Softail Classic. The Road King is a good bike, but underpowered with the 96 or older engines. Road Star has much more pep & you'll notice it when riding. Both are about the same reliability wise as long as it's a newer model HD. Price is way better for the Road Star. I sold my Harley because I got tired of tightening everything up at least every other week.
