Clean without all the wiping? 4 Years, 9 Months ago
Anyone know of a good cleaner for washing down my Roadie? Takes me 2 hours to clean it right on the weekends and I was thinking that if I could clean it easier during the week. I wouldn't have to spend so much time cleaning it down and more time riding! I've used just plane water and a cotten T-Shirt so far. (The white ones the wife bought me that I can't stand!) Any Ideas would be appreciated. Especially since there are so many clean looking rides here. Somebody has to have some good stuff!

Well I own a 2001 Vette and my 2007 Road Star so I have spent many long hours detailing my toys. My recommendation is, first, never use water. It starts chemical reactions, especially rust. Any large chunks of dirt can be knocked off with a rag or a soft brush.. Use only micro fiber towels, anything else will scratch the paint. Use Meguires quick detailer to clean off the whole bike. Change rags as they become saturated. Clean the tires with one of the OTS (off the shelf) wheel cleaners for your rim type. I use Eagle One or simple green. Then use Mr. Cleans Magic Eraser to remove any marks or hard spots on the chrome. It will take off boot marks as well. (DO NOT USE ON THE PAINT!) I then use the quick detailer and a swiffer duster to get in between the cooling fins of the engine and hard to reach places. I then wax the whole bike using EAGLE F1 Nano Wax. It is the best, trust me. If you want to polish the chrome, use Flitz chrome polish. Once you have your bike detailed, just use the quick detailer and a few towels after each ride (about 15 min) and your bike will stay pristine. Even after being caught in the rain, the detailer takes off all marks. All of these products you can get at WalMart

Beleive it or not, Yamaha markets a really great detailing product!
"YAMAHA Instant Detailer, Cleaner & Polisher" has been a favorite of mine.
Unless the bike is covered in mud, you just spray the whole bike down (including the windshield and leather saddlebags) and grab a rag and wipe and polish.
It works awesome on bugs and really shines up the leather too.
But, I never spray it into the cooling fins or any place I can not wipe the stuff off.
I use it on my truck's chrome and paint too.

Okay, Wise Guy....
First, I'll have you know that the furniture and the dining room table is the wife's department, not mine!
.....(The only furniture I am really concerned with, is the Recliner chair and the television.)
I'll have to steal a can of her Pledge and try it on the bike someday, but I wonder if it will turn my Roadie into a LEMON if I used
"Lemon Pledge."

I like Honda-bright as an all purpose "quick" detailer. But remember, dirt's a preservative, so clean as infrequently as possible, and ride more! BB
