Front Pulley Cover Removal 1 Year, 1 Month ago
On my last oil change I put in 4qts but since then I have been having more runoff through my crankcase breather tube. I have it routed straight down behind the tank and it runs/dumps out just near the front of the rear suspension spring. Maybe the tank didn't drain enough or with the temp changes here the engine is breathing off more than usual. Anyway as it blows out it has been collecting onto the bike in a number of different areas just from blowing around while riding. So now I have a small oil drip coming off the bike that I want to make sure is just from blowoff and not from something a little more serious. Pretty confident it's from blowoff though, just want to be sure. I need to remove the front pulley cover to track it's route but have never pulled it off before. Looks like it's just a few bolts and the swing arm bracket.

So, other than the swing arm bracket and the front pulley cover bolts is there anything else to be aware of when removing the cover or do I just pull the screws to that cover, the bracket and then remove it?

Waiting to hear from the RoadStar gods that you are.

nope that it. the one screw in the front hold a wire brkt stay. there is a block behind the pulley, don't know if taking the cover off is gonna help to see where the hose is routed. If it's gear oil leaking, it stinks, and if the bike is garaged, as soon as you walk into garage, you'll smell it.

Erbman, thanks for chiming in on a Saturday. I have the hose routing down just looking for routing of the oil drip, there is a line of it running down the back of the pulley cover and I want to make sure that it's not coming from anything more serious than the blowoff hose just letting spray everywhere while riding. Once I confirm it then I throw a small inline filter at the end of it and call it good.

Thanks again.

yeah, been in and out today, real windy after all these storms came thru, so cleaned the bike for the big ride tomorrow, about 300 miles for me, just to get to the meet spot is 72 miles, then into the N. Ga mountains for some twisty fun. My kind of ride
