Barons sells a steel 31 tooth. Visit web site or check Ebay. Think they sell a steel 32 also.

Been running an alum 31 for 20k miles and it's as good as new....it is also much lighter than steel so it will rev up much faster......

FYI,if you have a basically stock bike/R* or have mild/moderate perf mods and dont hammer it hard thru the gears all the time like an animal the AL pulley does just fine.

I ride fairly conservative with 2up all the time with bike bags loaded so the pulley see's more weight/load & i and have no problems at all with the 31T AL pulley i installed on my 06 silverado in 2009.
Is an AL ,pulley as strong as a steel one,no, but is it as bad as it's being made to look here,i dont think so from my exp ruunning one.

But i don't expect an AL pulley to last 100k miles like a steel one could likely do but ya never know./LOL!!!!!

I would not be surprised if a few people that had issues with an AL pulley had the pulleys retianing nut come loose allowing the AL pulley to move/rock on the steel shaft which would prematurly wear out the inner spline eventually stripping it.

Then there are likely others that had significnantly more HP/TRQ from perf mods on thier bikes that ride very agressive that maybe had some issues with an AL pulley wearing out prematurely which doesnt surprise me because its not as strong for hi perf setups being mfg'd of softer AL material so it can be worn out prematurly or in some cases broken with enough PWR/TRQ where a steel pulley could take more abuse.

Thats where running the right part/s for applaication is important just like running bike specific motor oil the offers better protection for a bike vs running your avg pass car/truck oil.(Couldn't resist that one)/LOL!!!!!!!!

Scott
