Hey Guys, I need to take my road test for the DMV next week and I was wondering what I'm in for?

Well first they test to see how good you can do a burn out, than you will do 2 wheelies one with no hands, and last you must jump a 4 foot high ramp and land on the back tire and go into a stoppie... Dont forget your full leathers and a helmet.

LOL, just joking its easy here in Florida you need to make sharp turns, stop when told and they look to see how smooth you are, at least thats how it was when I took it a few years ago....

Went thru a bike course here,then they just put the indorsment on you license.

Not bad, just pay attention to your instructor. Ga. heat might have them a little cranky. I passed no problem, my friends have as well. Good luck! BB

If I was you I would go watch a few riders take the test. I went the first time and failed, but I had no idea what was involved. Its not a hard if you know what to expect.

The Reaction part of the test is the trickiest. 3 lights middle one red 2 outside yellow. You have to maintain 12-15 MPH and react to the lights. Even the operator doesn't know which light is coming on. The red you stop as fast as you can, and the yellow you swerve in the direction of the lights. Its all in the back of the driving test manual. But watching it is much better or it was for me.

I took the test 15+ years ago (in GA) and failed the first time. It was a course with a light bar that was an avoidance and quick stop test. Then a fast 90 degree turn in 2nd gear with cones lining the turn. I was a little nervous and when the light turned red I forgot to pull in the clutch and almost hopped into the instructor. He failed me - I said thanks then drove off on my motorcycle. I took the test a week later and past. Practice a little in an empty parking lot (avoidance turn and quick stopping).

Here's something I do remember that might affect you. I took my test 10 years ago, and the instructor told me during one portion of the test (Quick stop in a straight line) "I don't care if you lock the back tire up, just don't cross this line (pointed at a line) with your front tire". So I came to a stop with the back tire locked, no sweat. I passed the test, no big deal. Well, passed that info on to a friend (and we practiced all the major points in an abandoned wal-mart parking lot), and he was failed because he let his back tire slide like 1 foot! He went back, did it the same way Minus the slide, and he passed. So my suggestion to you is, through all the separate test, don't be afraid to ask specific questions if you don't feel the directions were clear. And don't panic, a relaxed mind will help with the test. All will go well. BB

Hwy1700- somehow I knew I would hear from you.. I would have said the same thing.. I did have someone tell me that I needed to do figure eights within the width of a small alley.. Yea right, this aint a dirt bike..

Jreed, At 12 to 15 mph, I think I can slam the breaks on and swerving is no problem. 50% chance I will swerve the right way..
Coug- I couldn't watch your video, got dial-up on windows 95, (I got a new puter comin tho..)
R*Ga.- again, I think I can deal with the light bar as long as the right light flashes..
Last time I had a bike was in 1970somthing and Ya didn't need a special license. I guess it's a good thing, as long as the rules are fair..

Been along time for me too..... so the first time I got caught at a road block Trooper asks me for my license ....I give it to him he looks at me and says "you dont have a class 2 license".......M class nowadays I think ....so I look him in the eye and reply " No sir I dont drive a truck"...he looks at his partner shakes his head and says that I need a motorcycle license...I pleaded ignorant got no warning ticket ..but went and got my license shortly thereafter...Good luck Flash...Coug
