Per a lot of suggestions here, I started wiping it down with pledge after a good initial cleaning. Find the bugs are a lost easier to get off and a few minutes work each morning before a ride keeps it looking great. Have tried a few of the more expensive waterless type cleaner with none are as easy or cheap.

Another Pledge convert.

I haven't waxed my new paint job yet (2 years and counting). I just use Pledge whenever is gets dusty.

I spray the bike down with diluted Simple Green and then wash it with plain soap and water. After washing, I use a leaf blower to blow off all of the residual water on the engine and other hard to reach spots to avoid rust. I also prefer Pledge, but I normally use a car wax because my bike is outside a lot.

Sounds like I can raid the wifes cleaning cabinet. "Borrow' the can of pledge in there for the first attempt. I used to use that when I had the 84 Virago. Apparently that was a product that slipped my memmory. Man this getting old stuff is for the birds. First the body starts to ach in places you didn't know you had. Then your brain keeps telling you to "Go ahead. You can still do that!" Then it forgets what it said was OK to do! Thanks for the input all. Now If I can just remember until I get home!

dseward:

My philosophy is to keep it clean, which means that I wipe it down after every ride, in anticipation of the NEXT ride. The key is to keep it clean.

If your bike is clean, then I can recommend Liquid Performance Spray Cleaner & Polish or Motorcycle Stuff Spray Cleaner & Polish. Both of these products use the same active ingredient as the Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish, which is fantastic and effortless to apply and wipe off! Target's auto department sells microfiber towels in a 12-pack for about $5. They work great!

If your bike is dirty, rinse it off, then spray it down with S-100 spray cleaner.

Good luck!

.... Sure sounds like something my Dad would do. Dad uses his STIHL LEAF BLOWER for everything! When his shop gets dirty, he puts the Harley outside, and BLOWS the dirt out the door. I don't think he even has a broom, ...and even if he did, He'd never put the effort into pushing it.

Oh man .... that's a great idea!

I have a woodworking area that tough to keep clean. The shop vac can't get to all the nooks and crannies so there's fine dust everywhere.

I'm going to try that!

Thanks for the tip.
