Not so much diesel or gravel as cow doodoo . The country roads are literally colored with it sometimes. Then you get behind a wagon load of this politician ammo and well, you're looking for another road real fast .

Re:Bike went down!! 1 Year, 1 Month ago
I couldn't believe the road hazards I've encountered so far in this 1100 miles to Myrtle Beach. I almost lost my bike coming down a steep driveway all loaded down when I hit a patch of gravel. I managed to hold it upright, but I don't know how. I also hit a patch of oil, and hit a big chunk of angle-iron or steel on the highway going 70+ mph. (I saw two pieces and went between them, hitting a third in the process). When I hit the chunk of steel, I was sure I heard my front tire pop, and the junk flew up and hit the engine case, so I thought I'd cracked the case, too. The roads are full of things ready to take you down, and you have to watch the road constantly.I'm glad you're OK, and the bike can be repaired...

Thank goodness you weren't hurt. As someone mentioned earlier it's pretty common for us that live in oilfield country to come across this type of spill.

thanks to all for the kind words. these type of accidents certainly make you question yourself. I have a 9 month old...my first. Wife is not to enthused about motorcycles right now, but she did not grow up around them. Trying to convince her that it was a freak accident.

Been there done that. Except behind a truck that pumped out septic tanks. Smelled bad, felt worse. Instant fear of diseases carried by the feces. Really pi$$ed me off. I knew the company and remembered the truck number, I had my attorney give them a call and got reimbursed for the damages to my bike and a heavy round of injections as a precaution against scarlet fever etc. Ten days of injections were no fun for damn sure.
Do you think maybe they should put a florescent dye in Diesel fuel? At least we could see it on the road then.

Funny you say that. Me and my wife dont have a child yet, but are planning on one in the next couple years. She said "well you may have to sell the bike...bc I dont want you to get hurt and the baby grow up without a dad." Does make you think...but damn I like riding more than life itself
