Scratched rotor cover 5 Years, 9 Months ago
Hi everyone. After going through some of the helpful information here, I thought I'd better join this outfit. I'm glad to be here.

I'm the proud owner of a 2007 Road Star Silverado, my 7th bike in just over 30 years. I'm loving it. But I noticed a little problem I'd like some advice on, if I may. I noticed some scratches on the right rotor cover yesterday (looks like tool marks). Calling the dealership about it didn't help much (no surprise), so I've been looking for a good metal polish that might at least "tone down" the marks. I've been looking at a product called "No-Wet Ultra Metal Polish" that looks pretty good, but I'm open to other product ideas you might have. I appreciate any help/advice on this one.

Are you talking about the grey cover on the left side in front of the large chrome clutch cover?

Welcome to the Clinic

Looks like they're chrome. You can try different chrome polishes to hide them some but they won't go away.

Hi Doc. It's the "pie plate" that covers part of the rotor (kind of like a hubcap). I'll see if I can include a pic. Here goes...

Thanks Musky. Yeah, I'm not sure if I can buff out a lot of the scratches (many appear to be surface scratches), but I was hoping to be able to at least minimize them as much as possible.

Thanks Curt! My last ride was a 1986 Venture Royale. Great bike, but top-heavy. I'm liking this bike a LOT more already, and I'm still within the first 600 mile range. Still in the breaking-in stage.

Hello Brother,
And welcome aboard. I had some minor surface scratches on my headlight bucket that the dealer was kind enough to put on when they installed my silverado windshield. I used a product called semi-chrome that worked pretty good. The scratches are still there, but they are much less noticeable. You can find this at most auto parts stores. Good luck! Glad you are enjoying the bike.
