Here's a good license story ... In Rhode Island many many years ago we could take a safety course which many of us rode to class. While waiting for our instructor to show we could here a rice rocket racing up and showing off. While trying to make the turn he lost his balance and drop the bike. A couple of us helped him up and asses the damage (the driver was fine) I told him he was lucky the instructed hasn't shown up yet. And as you might have guess, he looks at me and says "he is the instructor". After a few chuckles I made a wise ass comment "well I guess we all can pass this test" Our road test was on Honda Rebels. That in itself was a joke!!!! On our license we have a H for restrictions, which is for motorcycles ... don't figure! You all have a great weekend!

Two of my coworkers, the two guys I rode around Lake Ontario with this year, are MSF instructors. When I went out shopping for my new bike, one told me there are tow types of riders out there that account for most of the motorcycle deaths in Maryland:

1) Mororn 20-somethings buying super-fast ctotch rockets for their first bikes and doing the whole wheelie and zipping through Beltway traffic at 120 mph thing...and....

2) Old farts like me who have been riding forever and think they know everything.

Needless to say, I signed up for the class. In all honesty, I learned to do some things differently and it gave me a chance to spend 2 days on the range practicing then testing skills. Once I passed their test, I got my MSF card and would have gotten a pass-go-collect-$200 piece of paper to go get my license if I didn't already have one.

Long story just to say that if the state offers a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course, it might be worth spending the cash and one weekend to hone up on the skills and take a range test under less pressure.

BB, I will do my best to keep things right side up and my ass in the seat. many years ago I was disconnected from my Kawa 900 by a careless cager who pulled out in front of me. I got an extreme case of monkeybutt from that.. couldn't sit down for weeks..you ever come into atlanta? I live over in the dunwoody area. maybe some of us could get together one day and kick around a bit.. (someplace other than town preferably..)
Chunt, I agree with your thinking on the class thing, If it truly has something to offer and is not just another govt. scam to separate you from your money..a lot of that kind of thing goes on here in the states..
Thanks Musky
good story NJADATA, what the heck does your handle mean? No Jamming After Dark At The Arena?

Doc, give me a break! rowdy! I just watched a tv show the other day showing Canadians who hang from the rafters with large fish hooks in there back and brand themselves with red hot steel.. I think you got it backasswards I won't make it up there this year but maybe next summer..and I will be sure to detour around bracebridge.. don't want to screw up a perfectly good dream

Well if you decide to ride/drive up then make a detour my way and we'll show you a good time in Canada's capital .... we can go to the senate chamber and watch the senators sleep at their desks.
