Clear odorless oil on back of front fender 1 Year ago
Noticed a Clear odorless oil on back of front fender. There are no signs of leaks for the brake lines or fork seals or anywhere else obvious. Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this?

I'd be checking the brake fitting under the trees, I know you say you don't see any leaks, may only leak when being applied.. You'll know when the brake fluid takes the paint off the fender. That is, if it's brake fluid.

Nothing on any of the fittings or connections, if it were leaking from them, there'd be some traces at the leak point. The other thing is, it's not just in one spot like it drpped, is spread evenly all over the rear of the front fender. I went and took another look and notice a little wetness on the valve cover of the front cylinder, so I'm thinking that it might be happening while on the freeway under load. It's possible there's a low pressure area behind the front wheel that's sucking any spray from the valve cover on to the fender. I'll have got wipe it down and check again, hopefully then I'll be able to better see where it's coming from. Just wanted to see if it was a common problem that others had heard of.

you would know if it were brake fluid due to the fact it would take paint right off the fender fork oil would be my guess

That's kind of what I was thinking too... I've dealt with break fluid leaks in the past and that stuff was like paint stripper. This has been there a couple days now,
I left it to show a local mech and it's not effected the paint.

Mine was doing the same thing. The fluid is coming from the area where the brake lines split to go to the front disk. I just snugged it up a bit and the leak quit.

It could be coming from the rear resivour or line spraying foward when under presure maybe as it's the right height to hit the front fender

If it isn't brake fluid it sounds to me like you rode through something on the road and it slung it up on those areas. Clean it up and take a nice long ride and see if it comes back.
