I am 6'5 and run a tall wide silverado shield now. I was thinking about getting a HD fairing and an aftermarket windshiled with that "bent part at the top to see if it flips the air over my head without having to massively adjust the fairing angle.

I am 6' 6" as well and ride behind an MS batwing. I had the 12" shield and bought a 14" with recurve from clearview. I have been pleased with the MS batwing.

now, i do have a question, and i welcome opinions, good or bad. the question is "does anyone have any experience with the memphis shades style of fairing that comes without the stereo accomodation? are there any you would recommend of another brand? i have a black bike so painting should not be necessary. the reason i ask is im curious about thier adjustability in regards to making the top part pitch forward or back and the amount of travel they afford you. i have oem bars on my 05 r* and kuryakyn sound of chrome bar mounted speakers. clearance wont be an issue, but im 6 foot 6 inches tall and im concerned about pitching the fairing enough to make the top of the windshield as high as my oem shield, which is pitched as far forward as it can be and is perfect." thanks in advance for your input.
I would recommend the HD fairing modified to fit your R*. Since the later models have the headlight being attached to the fairing you can tilt which ever way you want!
YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN? THIS ISNT JUST POURING SALT IN THE WOUND?
no i understand that, and thats fine for those that want to do that. but im looking at a NON stereo batwing. i have the sound system i want already, and im pretty focused on not putting on any hd parts. around here the harley vs. other rivalry is alive and well and im just not going to feed into it. the r* is the bike for me. not because its a yamaha, and not because its NOT a hd. but because i sat on everything from a can-am to a goldwing, to every hd and vtx model they offer. the r* is the fit i want, the look i want, and im in love with my roadie. its not an anti hd campaign, i just do not want to mix and match parts. my good friend has an 1100 shadow with a memphis shades non stereo batwing, and i like it a lot. but it seems to fit a bit pitched toward the rear of the bike (at the top). id ideally like to have the same fairing, but have it sit a bit tighter to the headlight, and a bit more forward at the top of the windshield. i was just curious if anyone here had any experience with any of this and any other manufacturer maybe to recommend? i currently run the oem tall windshield and a set of bucks lowers. (sorry curt you werent offering up lowers when i bought mine).
Rowdy. When you look at some components, aftermarket HD parts make sense. I want a fairing. Really only 3-4 manufactors make them for the R*. And those generally are pricey. But many make them for HDs and have clean generic lines.

I am 6 ft 4 in. and use a Reckless fairing. I have the 8 inch windshield on it now which is actually a 10 inch when you get it. I had it cut down 2 inches so I could look over it... have the 5in also which I like but wife does not. Very good protection as good or better than the Goldwings I have owned and the VEntures, because you don't get the head buffeting.. Oh yeah I do have the Yamaha lowers on it.. Much Much better than a windshield. Butch

Rowdy you are taking what I'm saying wrong. I'm not trying to rub salt into a wound. So let me say right now (I'm sorry if I offended you) What I'm telling you is the HD fairing with the headlight attached works so much better then any other fairing when you want to change the angle. It's unfortunate that you made some of the statements that you made and I only tried to point out those facts, and again I'm just stating simple facts. You just posted all opinions good or bad or would you recommend another brand? So that's what I'm doing. If you really knew me you would know that I love helping people fix things on their bikes and I love to fabricate things. I also know what works and I also know that Harley parts being the fact that there are so many out there can be had at a reduced price as compared to any other fairing out there. So take the information how ever you want and don't take it personal Please!

when i had my ms, i didn't like the gap from headlight to fairing, so i had the brackets slotted even more, was able to get fairing to sit straighter up and tighten the gap some. looked much better imo.
their brackets you have quit abit of tilt adjustment.
