2 Up Riding A Bit Rough On Suspension 1 Year ago
So I upgraded to Mustang seat. Wife very happy with it. We went out for ride the other night and I wasn't happy with suspension on anything but smallest bumps. If I hit something big like pot hole it's not going to be pretty.

I'm very happy one up - have progressive spring with stock shock. Though I'm not sure it makes much difference I have it on stiffest setting. Front forks are stock.

I'm not going to break it out for fear the wife might read but 2 up we're pushing 475 lbs.

Had 1000 lbs spring on couple years ago. Wasn't happy with one up. Wife wasn't riding much due to hip injury.

We rented Road King in Florida last year. Ride was exceptional. Realize that's an entirely different set up - Touring - and I don't expect to get that good with the R* - correct me if I'm wrong. We aslo were probably ~ 40 lbs less in total.

But I need to make things better. Almost thinking Tricky Air may be best/only option. Maybe progressive front and 10 wt too?

Help?

We're heavier than you two and the tricky is the, wait for it, trick. Thinking about the progressive in the front w/ 10weight. Dennis Kirk has 'em for like 78 bucks.

Are you sure nothing is broken down on the frame/swingarm?

had the same problem with mine. At last years M&G, I noticed every little stone/bump in the road. A couple of times it got alittle scary. Replaced the stock shock w/ a progressive #465. IMHO, $$$ well spent

Yes I'd say that did

Actually she has MC license but I'd rather not see her riding. She's a little accident prone.

I'm 6"5" and 385-Geez sounds like a old C&W song.Sorry back to the subject at hand.Being a somewhat large guy I am like two up riding all the time and my bike stock sucked. Can you say bottom out.I run the eibach 1000lb spring in the back with the prload set all the way in.But what really helped make it right was the progressive springs in the front-helped balance out the stiffer feel in the rear and no more exessive dive in the front.Bike handles well now and all bottom out is gone.

Well wife and I went back out last night. Not long ride but about 45 minutes. I have to say the bumps are not as bad as I was felling they were last ride. Maybe I was being hypervigilant of hitting some bigger bumps I don't know.

Anyway she loves the mustang. And we did alright for no changes. We'll have to keep trying. Not going to spend ~ 800-1,000 on Tricky just yet.

The Roadstars can take the weight as well as anything. I came from a RoadKing that was a killer on my kidneys. Just take it easy until you know for sure what it likes and dislikes. I have botttomed mine out several times and no problems at all. The underside of the frame even has road rash from dragging frame on the pavement. Oh and did I mention I had two swingarms repalced on HD bikes "FL models" because they were inferior from the factory. The Roadstars are tough and I hope my Liners backbone is as strong.
