Took a '92 Fat Boy for a spin last night 1 Year ago
Local guy had '92 FB in "mint condition" for $7K. Figured I'd like to check it out for s$%#s and giggles. Turned out it was in very nice shape for almost 20 year old Harley. I wouldn't call in mint but close to excellent. Had a 3-year old RevTech 100 replacement motor with rebuilt original 5 speed.

Seller broke his neck falling off a roof. Felt real bad for him.

So I take it for a spin as it looked promising. Ran excellent. Very strong 100 RevTech. But boy what a cramped ride compared to my R*. Brake pedal would have to be relocated for me. Just much smaller bike feel than my Raody.

I looked up the RevTech and see it's not the most dependable. And I really don't have an extra $7K laying around so needless to say I'm passing.

But the experience did make me appreciate my 07 Midnight Star that much more. Took wife out for a ride when I got home. No comparison - albeit the FB was a much older bike.

thats my biggest quarrel with most HD's , they're so small! i sat on my buddy's roadking, and it feels like a scooter (size wise). Its a gorgeous bike but very small.

everytime i see a deluxe, i cant but help thinking how tiny they are.

i like the street glide and road glide the most.

Yeah after being off motorcyles for 25 years i looked at Harleys. My brother had a Fat Boy and my brother in law had a Ultra whatever bagger type. I felt like I didn't have any room in the seat. I mean my balls were cramped up against the tank and I needed forward controls. The only one I sat on that I liked was a Police Model trade in but I thought it was way over priced. I sat on my Road Star a trade in by the way at a Harley dealer about 100 miles from home and fell in love. I didn't need to do a darn thing for comfort. Since I changed my Memphis Shades windshield to the tallest one and I'm working on my own design of lowers but other than that it just "fits"....and at 1/3 the price

I've heard too that the RevTech isn't the best. Most people I know go with the S&S. Think I'll stick with the Roadie though.

$7000.00 for a 92? No way Jose! I wouldn't pay more then $3,500 and the fact that he removed the harley motor for a RevTech was a big mistake. RevTech motors are without a doubt not that dependable. As stick stated the S&S is a much better motor. You can buy a new 88ci motor through the dealer for right at $3000. But your better off with your R* anyway. And that's coming from a guy who owns harley & R*.

Everytime I go into a Harley show room I end up gravitating to the Police bikes. I dont know what it is about them but they really catch my eye.

Is it because you have seen them in your rear view mirror so many times??

Yeah the experience did make me appreciate my R*. I do love the look and lines of Harleys. Low center of gravity and suspension are 2 plusses.

But I almost own my R*. And it is a great looking and running bike. Haven't had a lick of trouble in 3 years - bought it as leftover 07.
