All engines have resonate frequencies and my Road Star gets a buzz at about 77 mph indicated (73 actual) and it is gone at 80 mph indicated (76 actual. At 80 it is almost as smooth as a Goldwing, just kidding.
Check your motor mounts if the bolts are not torqued you can get a nasty buzz in the floor boards.
Tire balance is another major factor and then tuning. When were the plugs changed last??
Usually the resonate bands are fairly narrow so try a little faster or a little slower and see what happens. If you must ride at the speed it occurs a reduction change will help, ie. pulley change.
Good luck.

Great post, Bob. Answers a question for me about what I experienced this weekend on a NC to GA roundtrip. I was getting strong vibration in my left floorboard @ 80+ mph indicated. I'll check the mounts as I am pretty sure the tire balance is good. Thanks.

When you feel the vibration, pull in the clutch.
If the vibration goes away, it's your engine.
Might be a lean engine condition, or just the nature of your beast.

+1 on pulling in the clutch at speed. It will help you eliminate engine or body parts.

If engine, check for a manifold leak using starting fluid squirted toward the rear cylinder and NOT at the carb intake.
