Teaser - Want to lose that fuel pump? 6 Years, 6 Months ago
Just wanted everyone to know we have just recieved a new article submission for the clinic that outlines the parts and procedure for changing out the float bowl needle valve assembly for the stock carb.

I spent about a year hunting for an appropriate needle valve replacement for our stock carbs and got NOWHERE. Emery LeBlanc (Delphi user EM44) set his sights on this and did not give up until he found the solution. Working with Joel Parker (ODO) for validation and advise, he ended up finding the solution which both he and Joel have now tested and confirmed.

WE HAVE A SOLUTION!!!!!!!!

Stay tuned. It will take a couple of days to get it ready to publish here on the clinic, but its coming, its easy, and it works. NO MORE FUEL PUMP.

I can't believe it. Felt like dancing around when I got the article.

I already had to change out a bad pump. One month out of warranty of course. when it went I had to plumb the lines direct to the carb to get home. Bike wouldn't go over 85. does this work on 1670cc engine? Ride safe.

I've been following that discussion on the Road Star Riders Forum and it sounds really interesting. I remember reading something about getting rid of the fuel pump when going to a 42 mm carburetor. Required changing out the tank valve to increase gas flow.

Wonder if changing out the tank valve is part of this operation? My understanding is that currently the float valve is too restrictive for supporting high flow requirement at speed. Is that correct?
