what kind of pipes? 4 Years, 9 Months ago
As some of you know, I just got this bike and have been gettin used to it. as I bought it used with a lot of after market on it already, I'm trying to figure out what brand of exhaust pipes are on it as I want to try and baffle them. Looking in a JP catalog, I figure they are hard khrome but not sure. If they are, I can get some baffles that fit..Ya I know the pic ain,t so good but its all I have at the time..Thanks

The rear cyl. pipe does have the H K 'slant back' to it where as most cobras and V&H have the forward and then back style now. Ever notice if a name was stamped under a heat shield somewhere? Are they 3 " Cause they look like the 3" H K sideburner to me.

Post edited by: blackroadie, at: 2007/08/29 16:03

I agree with blackroadie, they do look like HKs. They look like 3" big straights.

Any chance you can get a closer picture of the union between the headers heat shield and the tailpipe heat shield?

Yea, Blackroadie, thats kinda what I thought too, but looking thru the JP catalog, I saw some cobra's that look somewhat the same. my pipes have a removeable straight pipe insert in them, I took one out just to measure it. I have looked around on them some but can't see too much of the inner pipe anywhere..the HK baffles in the JP catalog look similar, but at 50 bucks a pop, similar ain't good enough .

Gram, the heat sheild is all one piece from the engine to the tail accecpt for a small billet end piece.. that pic I have was taken with my cell phone and then e-mailed to myself. kinda involved process . guess I need to get a real camera so I can just pop the chip in my puter and upload . camera or baffles, can't get both, still got to squeeze something to eat too...

ok, its been so long since I really looked closely at a pair of 3"....

If you remove the baffles, is there still a tailpipe inside the heat sheild? I do remember that the baffles and tail pipe were one piece on the 3", it was tough to get them back on because you had to feed them through the heat shield and it went around the outside of the header.... Hard to do without some special tools (I used a broom handle )
