I ran over a lawyers dog, it was a cocker spaniel about 40 lbs, the first week i got my bike, i was running aroud 40mph when i hit him, the roadie dirt biked right over him, i hit the rear brakes it fistailed so i just hit the gas, squared up on him and went, hopped right over him, he was flat though, i have been thrown by a dog before and did want to do it again, i stopped to check for damage the lawyer came out , i was apolagising for hitting his dog, he said that he couldnt break him from chasing bikes, i said reckon i just did, i was glad he said that, but nothing was HURT except a new pair of underwear!!

I'd have asked while to trying to break him from chasing bikes if he ever gave forethought to a leash?

Re:Had my first close call 11 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Years ago when I was a wee bit of a lad, I had bought myself a new suzuki 550. The dealer delivered it to the house, got it unloaded and he says take it for a spin. I hope on it and take off, crusin thru the neighborhood having a good time. I go down this one street and turn left on to another street when I see this little dog making like a heat seeking missle headed toward me. Of course I'm in a heavy lean going into the turn, so all I can do is keep on going. The dog miscalcultes his speed and catches up to my front tire, and I catch him with the back tire. I keep the bike up and say oops and keep going.
Two weeks go by and I'm turning down that same street and who do I see, but the same dog chasing me again with a cast on his front leg. I just shook my head and left him behind.
I hate it when people let their dogs wander the street. My dog is not allowed out of the yard.

Sorry dog lovers, but if your dog gets in the way of my bike, I'm hitting it. Not on purpose, and if I can swerve, of course I will, but if it's between me and the dog, I'm sorry about your dog.

Glad you're okay, Bubbs.

I agree as I set here with my dogs. I ride offroad and use the back break heavily. Depending on conditions I may ride the break. The only thing bad IMO about locking the rear tire is the wear on the tire. Glad you were able to avoid an accident and lesson learned.

I hit this little Beagle sized dog with my Vstar a few years ago going 65. Little thing got sucked up between my front tire and fender bike ended up on its side sliding down the road but enough about hitting dogs with bikes. Whats the rest of the story with the girl???

I have hit 2 dogs, numerous cats, squirrels, groundhog (SCAREY!!!!),and I have had one medium sized bird that was nothing but a blurr then a cloud of feathers hit me on the shoulder....and man did it hurt!!!! Riding up Highway 11 in S.C. last week and missed a deer....I say missed him I really didn't do anything, one minute nothing but clear road, next minute he darted in front of me. I had time to do nothing but shudder....and I mighta pooted jus' a lil bit!
