Just had enough ... 7 Years, 9 Months ago
Went for a ride this weekend and the backfire thing just finally got the best of me. My MAXAIR PMS needle arrived and I decided it was time to do the dirty deed. The airflow kit is due this week sometime I believe and I will finish then, but last night I ported the intake, pulled off the AIS and almost finished the SMOG crap. Did you guys know under all that junk there is a really pretty engine? And the front cylinder will definately cool better I am sure. Right now I have stock pipes, but Cobra Slip ons are only a few weeks out.

So now for a question:
WIth a ported manifold, no AIS or SMOG, MAXAIR MAXFLOW air intake and Cobra Slip ons ( I personally like the lead pipes look stock, but hate the sound of the mufflers), what might be a reasonable starting point on the jetting? Pilot and Main up a notch and tune the PMS for no popping? And if I have the stock pipes on for a few more weeks, do I even have to do anything to the jetting until the pipes show up?

Even with the popping, my R* was still pulling the Harleys and Hondas I was with pretty handily. Hope they can handle my toy with even more poop.

If you put on the MAXFLOW you will need to rejet. I would wait for the pipes, then you don't need to rejet twice

I would recommend ....

Mikuni 170 or 172.5
Needle at 4 or 4.5 clip
Leave the stock pilot in for now (I did move up to a 40)
PMS will have to be set as needed
