Coot I my just do that I have the argon but having tried welding aluminum with the mig yet. Smokescreens the metal is just in the prototype phase so it still has a long way to go.

Curt another thing to take into the process the aluminum is a heat sink. In theory it seems to add to puking unless you run a very open air cleaner. More so with stock than the 42 and 45 due to the bowl change. Just trying to help with observations. Believe me you come up with a better attachment for the carb I'm soooooo there. I don't dare post how I was told to seal my 42 beside the shim I made as directed.

True but I have never had a puking problem on my 05 or my 07 even in 105 temps. I have the K&N filters and all the middle of the engine and carb area is very open to air flow. Even the 07 with my lowers on it doesn't have a puking problem. My feeling on the puking is if you open up between the jugs and run the fuel line properly and have the carb jetted properly you won't have a puking problem. Even running synthetic oil helps too.

I used a fibre spacer from J & P cycles and I think it was about $12. It went between the vulcan adapter and the Nemesis with the super E flange mount. I had to bend the gas tank seam up because the carb was just touching it. It works great, carb stays cool

Yes there are a number of ways to insulate the carb from heat. Good air flow is important as well.

Let me know if you want me to ship it down to you when I get it back and you can fool around with fitting the parts up, Then ship the whole thing back to me and I'll weld it up.
It's a real challenge to get a nice looking and tight weld with the little mig machines
