Be Careful Guys 11 Months, 1 Week ago
I ride the R* to work just about everyday there isn't a downpour. On the way home today a car pulls right out in front of me. She was coming off the interstate and never stopped to look at the bottom of the off-ramp. I've read some of the threads about locking up the back wheel recently hear and let me tell you, it happens before you know it and its easy to do. The rear tire slid around and the bike started oscillating pretty badly. Thank God I was able to keep the shiny side up... I'm still a little shaken. Be careful out there guys, it a dangerous world we ride in.

Glad your ok!
When these close calls happen from time to time,it only raises my level of awareness and it helps me look to avoid the same situation again if possible.
I think of every car as a rattle snake...I have to pay close attention to it and plan to react before it strikes.

Be safe

I pretend that everyone is out to get me when I ride. Always on the defensive and scouting every out should someone do something stupid. I know two people this season already who were killed when car drivers pulled out in front of them. I assume at every intersection someone is going to do this to me so I'm prepared as possible. I'm not saying those riders weren't attentive, but every reaction second counts and if you think someone sees you and dint give those extra few feet it could be your last mistake.

Both car drivers in those accidents were above the age of 70 too. Seems like there should be mandatory state drivers tests once you hit 68 or something. I know not all older people are bad drivers but when other proper lives are at risk no one should complain.

Locking up the rear wheel can stop your heart for a second. I haven't had to lock mine up because someone pulled out in front of me, but my left foot seems to forget that we are now shifting with a heel tow shifter and from time to time I use my tow to go up insted of my heel. By that I mean I click down to go up.

That will make the south end of my horse jump out to the right. I wonder what makes my foot forget. It's almost like it has a mind of it's own. OOOOOOOOO spooky. Does that ever happen to you ?

Glad you're ok, that speed wobble can be a pretty scary thing. I am a pretty heavy front brake user just because of that. Got in the habit from racing dirt bikes, I don't even touch the back brake on the dirt bike unless I'm screwing around.

I think if I pretend that EVERYONE is out to get me, then I'll be safe.... a safe, slow jerk that everyone honks at. I def know what you're saying, though. I do get cagey at intersections and when I see someone looking the other way waiting for a break in traffic.
