NOT YOUR TYPICAL OIL ????? 4 Years, 8 Months ago
Ok here goes. A few weeks ago I was sharing about the abuse I,ve been putting my 06 Roadie through. Well after running the Mobile 1 Car Synthetic for 13,000 miles (hey they Guarantee it for 15,000) it is time to change it. Only a little brown/dirty and viscocity is broken down quite a bit. I run the heck out of my beast to. Now for the question. Can you mix 50% Dyno and 50% Synthetic long as it is the same brand and weight?? Reason I ask is that Castrol sells a Syntec Blend which is already half their GTX Dyno and half Synt. So I am looking at the prices and if I do my Wally World Math then at their prices mixing my own 1/2 and 1/2 comes out $1.50 cheaper than buying the already mixed stuff. Hey by the way Walmart has Castrol 4 Stroke 20w50 4T M/C oil for $2.68 a quart. Take Care God Bless and Ride Safe.

Lots of people run car oil. Won't get into the oil debate but I run Royal Purple 20/50 car oil. No problems.

TopNotch you can run car oil in a motorcycle, go with the Mobil 1 full synthetic, try the 15-50, and like you put many miles on your bike its cheap insurance....I also like the Purolater oil filters they are rank one of the best.
I personaly would not put more then 5,000 on my oil no matter what kind you got, I raced bikes for many years and belive it or not every 1,000 miles we changed the oil, motorcycles are very hard on oil...

Yuup I always run car oil. Long as it does not say "ENERGY CONSERVING" in the API service circle on the back. And make sure it is SJ or better rated. I get the SL/SM rated oil.

Post edited by: TOPNOTCH, at: 2007/09/03 21:56

Car oils whether the API label states Energy Conserving or not..with a sl/sm rating have lowered the Zinc levels and substituted friction modifiers...otherwise they wouldnt qualify for the sl or sm rating
