Why did you have to split the red wire? Why not a two pole on/off toggle switch?

I am assuming you mean a single pole single throw? If you don't separate the left and right signals when not in use your normal signal switch would trigger them both all the time. (If I'm following your question).

Essentially, the DPST switch is two switches (or circuits) in one switch. You can share the hot (RED) wire coming from the battery, but you need to separate the two circuits for each signal light.

Maybe someone else can explain it better if I'm not stating it clear.

Martin, looks like you succeeded. Personally, I want to hide it more. But that's just my preference. Congrats on getting it done.

Smokescreen, in the fairing is a great idea. If/when I get one, that would be an excellent place.

As you can tell, there are as many options are there members. Darn put it best "the toughest part is deciding where to put the switch". lol

Jsawaya great post! Thanks for all the pictures! I am going to purchase the parts tonight and get it installed! I'll let you know how it goes!

BatmansR*, how did it go? Where did YOU put the switch.

PS - Say "Hello" to my son who lives by Nibley Park Golf Course. He went to school at Westminster of Salt Lake. I wish I was taking my bike (trailer or other), but the week of the 4th I'll be in Salt Lake City visiting.

what i done on this was to start from the battery with an inline fuse, then from it i have that wire going to my flasher can then i have it split in to 2 wires comming out of it so that i have 2 wires to go in to the DPST switch, then 2 wires going out of the DPST switch, 1 goes to the left turn signal and 1 to the right turn signal. thats it.

IT works! Got all the material for it, put it all together, and the blinkers come on! I haven't mounted the switch yet...however I think I'm going to mount it right in front of my left leg just under the nose of the seat. It took me a little bit to get the wires on the correct connectors on the DPST, but I got it to work. That's cool you are coming here for the 4th...bike would be nice to have, but at least you are coming to visit family. Once again, thanks for the picture details!

Ok... For all you guys and gals out there that haven't done this project yet, here is a quick little bit of advice. Make sure that you measure twice, or three times for that matter!! Prior to drilling out the hole for the switch... The first hole ended up being right under the seat frame. The second hole (after ordering a new side cover $180) is where I should have placed it. I was nearly sick after realizing my mistake. Please make sure and KNOW ABSOLUTLY where you want the switch.
