Re:05 r* for 07 v* trade? 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
nothing major. i was just curious. i ride like 150 to 200 miles when i go out for the day. no real long road trips. i dont drink so no bar hopping. i usually ride daily for around 25 to 30 miles between errands and work. no rain riding. i would describe my ultimate bike as one with no bags, no windshield or fairing. no triple head light. i like the thought of a radiator and fuel injection. also i like quiet pipes. the vstar has stocker pipes and my roadie has vance and hines longshots that were on it when i bought it. i guess i like a simple bike, and my roadie has become an accessory and chrome festival. i LOVE the roadie, and im sold on yamaha quality. but the vstar seems more comfy in short term rides given my size and weight. i love throwing it around. i do kind of have my mind made up, and im not looking for anyone to change my mind. im just interested in your opinions. thanks so far.

If you cut it in half for a smaller bike what would happen if you bought something like a liner ?

I traded a '04 & '05 VStar 1100's for my 05 Roadie. Book values were within $100 trade in or retail. Dealership was able to sell the two VStars faster than the Roadie. Great deal for both of us.
I started the deal on the phone, loaded the bikes on the trailer on a Friday nite, drove to Dallas early the next morning. Got there right after the dealer opened. Guy met me in the parking lot and looked at the bikes on the trailer for couple of minutes and said he was good with the deal. I checked out the Roadie for couple of minutes and said I was good with it. Whole process with paperwork, unloading and loading, 45 mins.

I sold my Vstar 1100 with just 14000 miles on it, it handled good, but the 1700 Silverado handles good too. I've had two Vstar 1100's, the first one I sold at 26000 miles.

Whether I'm riding 100 ft, or 100 miles, so far the roadie gets my vote.
