Fuel injection 10 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I had heard before I bought my bike that fuel injection was causing a lot of problems on bikes.

Anybody had any problems with your fuel injected roadie as far as fuel injection is concerned?

It seems a little slower to start that my Vstar was, but other than that, even after I laid it down it started right up and ran right.

That sounds like an old wives tale to me. I have converted three cars over to fuel injection and they have always been vastly improved by the conversion. I had a 1985 Z-28 Camaro that I ran at the local drag strip. After one pass the car would vapor lock and would not restart for an hour after being shut down. I put the Holley Projection 4 barrel TBI on it and all of my E.T.'s improved, hot and cold starting reliability were outstanding and improved my gas mileage. It out performed every carb. system I had on it previously. My R* will crank right up every time regardless of temperature or how hard it has been ridden. And yes, I'm still running my power commander PCIII EX enjoying great gas mileage and enhanced performance and have no intention of taking it off.

Have an '08 that gave me trouble but only because the PO did not have the O2 sensors hooked-up. Once I put them on, bike runs like a beast although I would like to see some higher mpg's.

Just checked on a run cruising 75 to 80 mph I was getting just under 40 mpg.

Other than that, love it.

My last four bikes have been FI. No problems with the FI system - or anything else to speak of. Easy fast starting, no adjustments needed, good milage. Very pleased.

Also have an 08. First fuel injected bike I have owned. I have had it for two years, with no problems. Great running and get average of 44 mpg mixed driving miles. Took me a little while to get used to waiting a second or two after turning on the key to hit starter. Once I got used to that, I loved it!

54-55 mpg imperial gallons at 70-75 mph no starting issues,no running issues in 20,000 miles, why would anyone want a carb.

No, you can change to big air kit and any pipes you want, as long as they have 02 sensor bungs, you don't need to change a thing. That's a neat thing about these bikes.

The sensors aren't broad band but broad enough to do the job very, very well.

I've been told that on my HD that if I change the air kit and pipes that I have to add a fuel management system or auto tuner. Definitely not so on the Road Star. I have an 08 and I'm actually a convert to this line of thinking, just ask Rich(tampaSVT)
