Space Cadet 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
So last weekend a buddy of mine and I are out riding, and go to lunch. I wear jeans/shorts, tshirt, sneakers, and a half-shell. He, on the other hand, has a full pant and jacket that goes over his pants and tshirt, gloves like you'd wear in the dead of winter shoveling snow, boots that come half way up his calf, and this insane helmet that clicks on to the suit's jacket. And it's all silver. So we pull up to the restaurant and I'm walking up looking normal, he's got his full getup on, and a little kid walking by says "Look mommy, an astronaut!" I was on the ground laughing, and now he's known as the space cadet.

I'll admit, wearing shorts isn't the greatest idea, and I seldom do, but sometimes it's just to hot to ride in jeans. However the chance of me wearing a full getup like that, just ain't happening.

Safety issues and judgements aside. That reminds me of some of my own experiences: ...I've ridden all kinds of bikes over the past 30 years, including sport bikes. When I road one, I'd wear my jeans, riding boots, gloves, ballistic jacket and full face, but I always felt I never looked quite as cool as the guys with the full on racing, one piece leathers, and matching carbon fiber boots, gloves etc., all done up with wild graphics to match the bike. That is until they step off the bike and walked into a diner/coffee shop/watering hole etc. Unless you're standing in the pit/paddock of a race track, off the bike, it's impossible to look cool wearing full race leathers.

I've yet to see a temp too hot for jeans and boots on the bike. A little ball sweat sure beats sun burn/pipe burn/road burn!

I agree with the last few comments! Only the last couple days have I rode with just shirt on top but usually always wear leather jacket(old fashioned type -NO removable lining--NO armor NO VENTS) really hot on warm days BUT like they say Protect what you want to keep.! I burn easy ! Always wear long pants--either blue jeans or work pants! Have Modular full face--bike too loud to wear half helmet!
