Dang it!! Those sounded like the most comfortable. Just kidding.

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I may focus a little more on a seat. This sounds like it may help.

HD Chrome Mini-Ape Handlebar 56079-93T, stock on Dyna Wide Glide. Still the most comfortable angle & reach of all the bars I've had, from stock to the Star Bar to 16" apes. Go figure. I'm 6'2", long torso/short legs, 37" arms.

Will the stock cables and wiring work with the HD bars?

Sounds like your problem is the seat. A bit more expensive than bars but a must in your situation. The stock seat is just not that good IMHO. I have a Mustang with backrest and have no tail bone issues with it. There are quiet a few good seats to choose from I had a Corbin dual touring on my last R* and it is also a comfortable seat for me. It is hard as said but it distributes the weight evenly on your butt so it doesn't hurt. Thats my experience with it anyway, The EDrody looks like a nice seat also. I have bad lower back so a drivers backrest is a must if i want to ride all day.

I am soooo happy to hear your commentary on the Mustang Seat. I am a pretty big guy 6'3" 290 lbs. I also have a bad back (had surgery kind of bad),and it became apparent pretty quick that the stock seat wasn't gettin it for me. 100-150 miles has me hurtin a good bit. So I puckered up and ordered me a 2 piece studded Mustang seat with the backrest. Also got the matching Journey bag to go with it. I am hoping these items help me have a good trip from Fla. to Asheville area in a few weeks.

The mustang is comfortable to sit on but with your height you may have to extend your floor boards. Then again you may not. If you have engine guards with foot rest that my help also. But that all depends on you. I would give the seat a good week or 2 before you decide to change anything else. It takes that long for you butt to get use to any seat.

Good luck and I think you will enjoy the mustang.

I have 16" apes and, I put the Ultimate seat on last year, and my tailbone would still give me pain after about an hour or so. I put a backrest on last Friday in anticipation of the poker run I didn't make because of rain. Went for a ride after the rain only about 100 miles but, my tailbone didn't hurt so I think that might be the thing that helped the most.

I have this one

I don't think this is the way YOU should go but it works for me. I have 02-03 Roadstar Warrior bars on mine. They straighten out my wrists, like the Klock Werks Ergo bars do for the Harley touring bars.

I'm 5'8", for comfort I have the Mustang Vintage. It will move ya forward 1 inch. Lee, at your height I don't think you would like that. I would imagine you would need to look at the Ultimate or the ERdody Designs seats like all the other taller people seem to like.

Click on the thumbnails for comparison shots of stock Roadstar vs Warrior handlebars.
