*4Life,

Hey man, not trying to sell you on anything. They're not for everyone. I'd bet that many of the ape guys don't really care for drag bars or beach bars. But anyway, if you want a pretty good perspective on why they are liked, check out John Baron's video on the Kong Bars. He explains both sides, Good looking and comfortable.

Pulled-over for my apes recently. Sheriff traveling in opposite direction, performed u-turn n turned on lights. I was traveling at speed limit behind cars so thought nothing of it when I pulled ove to let him by. To my suprise, I was his target. Was told my 14" apes which are approx 3-4" above my shoulders would prevent me fro stopping effectively. I "Yes-Sir'd" him despite my real opinion. He was decent n didn't even look at my license, and told me he was doing me a favor n there woudn't be a second warning before ticket. In a state with no helmet law that allows practically anything with wheels to be street legal(ie. quads, dirt bikes, sand rails, golf carts, etc....), the enforcement of this law really suprised me. I love my apes n will take my chances.

Never cared much for apes. I've always been able to get seat riser bar combination that is comfortable for my back in spite of having my spine fused. To me I don't want to give up good control for looking cool. I can have control and look cool with the right combination but to each his own. Some do go to extremes.

I want the kind of handle bars like I saw on the "Sons of Guns" show last night. Not too much rise, but a belt fed machine gun in front of them!

Told me next time would be a ticket, third time they'd impound my bike!

So, are you selling your apes or just giving them away. I'll take them.

Apes have always given me the best control of the bike. Think of it like doing a push up or pushing a vehicle or punching your neighbor. Most of your upper body power comes strait out from your shoulders. Having said that, the crazy tall apes aren't my cup o tea

Anyone put the Harley 8" Apes on the Roadstar? Curious of looks or I might go with 10". I don't want to change the cables and I don't want them to be too high. I am 5'10".

I'll die and rot in hell before I give up my apes! Since I started this thread awhile back, I've been pulled over again, this time by a HP. He gave me a friendly warning and let me go.
