That is strange. I got my fender beginning of this year and they told me that I needed to chop the fender and then install their fender on top. Thats also how they showed it on their website. http://www.baddad.com/instructions/install/1

But that is a harley and the fender fits over the harley fender without any modification. Our fender is a bit longer at the back so you have to chop that part. Unless they changed some things to it. If I were you I would ask again to be sure.

The instructions for the Roadstar rear fender are included in the saddlebag bracket instructions pdf.

I was thinking about the pros and cons of not including the bobbed stock fender under the Bad Dad fender and looking for pics last night. The fender base appears that it would be more sturdy than sitting the BD fender on the swingarm but I trust that they have adequately stress tested their product. I also may have found one on their website with the fender base.

Another consideration is that the edge of the BD fender runs parallel to the ground instead of curving under the seat. This would mean a lot more rear wheel would show from the side with only the BD fender, above the "splash guard", than with the fender base. I did not realize this and got a white donor R* fender to "bob". So, a little of the white fender shows under the seat now on each side. This winter I'll have to paint those small fender areas either black or black cherry.

As Yogi mentioned, and as seen on the instructions in the link above, they suggest adding the bobbed fender unless they have revised the instructions. Did you tell them you plan to run two up?

Good morning to all,
Well I got my kuryakyn backrest yesterday. Still waiting on the Baddad parts. Slowly but surely things are coming along. I will call Baddad tomorrow and ask again about the fender. I'm going to do the bobbed fender thing just for that extra support.

Sergeant, I asked baddad about the fender and this was their answer,

our fender cover is designed to have the original fender under it for support, and should not be installed in any other way. We have a Mustang seat on our Roadstar, and it fits good. Sometimes we have to manipulate seats of all brands to fit correctly. We pull back the seat fabric and remove material from the seat pan to get the correct fit.

Did that very thing to fit a HD seat to my mother's HD.

Hey Yogi, thanks for the info. I decided I'm leaving the fender on. I will be starting on the bike today. I'm still waiting on the bags, TJD is making round lids for my bags.
