If your rear brake resivoir is full, you will need to remove just a little bit of fluid before you push back the caliper pistons. Also loosen the resivoir cap and wrap a rag around it to catch any overflowing fluid.

Top caliper bolt... STRIPPPED. Can you believe it. I was shocked. The socket slipped a bit and I successfully stripped it.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Momma Yama must use red Loctiete on every d**m bolt and nut on these bikes.

This thing is freakin' awesome for rounded bolts/nuts.

3hrs, and I still have the same brakes. It was just one of those nights, you know?

Better days ahead I'm sure.

you should have bled your brakes. At least you would have accomplished something...

Yay!!!!

$24.00 bolt extractor kit from Sears included the 12mm size. Dissasembled the bike again and quickly removed the stripped bolt.

Replacing the brake pads were a breeze. No more surprises and did NOT need to bleed the brakes. (Thanks for all the input).

The pads were down to nearly metal.

Works like a charm now.

ps- I am now a professional at removing my exhaust and know so much more about my bike's parts (how things are connected and what bolts go to what). So, there was a positive for doing this twice!

THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT

Great to hear that it worked out. I was able to do mine w/o removing the Long Shots, but then I had the 12mm box end!

But, all's well that ends well.
